I believe that Crispin probably shouldn't trust Bear since he found him in a village that's been affected by the plague. Why was he there in the first place? Why was he singing? I think that we'll have to wait and see later in the book if this "Bear" explains why he was really there, and some intel on who he is and where he's from. Crispin can't exactly escape in the first place since he pledged to him that he would be Bear's servant until he dies. Unless, of course, Bear lets him go willingly. If Crispin gets to know Bear better later in the book, I think that he should persuade him to take him to any cities he knows of where he would be safe from people from Stromford, and not escape. But, if after they ever go to a city, I think Crispin should try to escape (after asking him if he could leave willingly) as soon as possible. I think he should do this because of how Bear was not the kindest to him when they first met. This opinion may change as we get to know the character more, but this is what I think now.

I think Bear sometimes can be trusted as long as Crispin does whatever Bear tells him to. Eventually Crispin should try and escape but should stay for now just in case they find him in the woods. Or to at least to pass time until they get tired and go back. Maybe then Crispin should escape but there will be conflict because Bear is a large man and Crispin has no expirience with someone like that. Crispin hasn´t learned to defend himself.

I think that Crispin should not trust Crispin because he was the one who told him about the man that was hung at the cross so maybe he was stalking him and is leading him to John Aycliffe so have him killed. I think Crispin should try to escape from Bear because he was hurting him when he said one bad thing and he might have a short temper. Also, on the other hand, he was the one who fed him and seemed nice to him before he starting to talk about treason.

I think Crispin should learn to trust bear but still have the urge to run away if he has to. The reason why he should trust him is because he gave him bread and said he would give him protection if he became his servent. I feel like Crispin should still have the urge to run because Bear,as explained in the book was very massive and strong, and if Crispin were to make him mad in any way who knows what will happen.

I think Crispin should trust "Bear". "Bear" seems like a nice guy, yes, he did enslave Crispin but it was OK to do that. I don't think Crispin should escape from "Bear". I see this as a "blessing in disguise" because he will have a source of food that will lead him to larger cities.

I think that bear could not be trusted because bear was grabbing and told the narrator that he had to be his servant and if he doesn't listen to him then bear will harm him.
and bear also said that he will lead the narrator to the people that are hunting him if he doesn't be bears servant. so I don't think that the narrator should trust bear.

Anaid Hernandez said...

I think he should not trust bear because bear can turn Crispin in without Crispin knowing. He also just met bear so he still needs time to know bear a bit more.I think he should run away because Crispin is not a hundred percent sure he can trust bear and he should get as far away as possible to get far from the people hunting him down.

Rebecca Trejo said...

I don´t think Crispin should trust Bear. Although, I don´t think he should leave Bear because he gives him food, he won´t be attacked by the steward, and he made an oath not to leave.

I think that Crispin should not trust Bear.I think this because Bear at first in a way harmed Crispin. After Bear calmed down, he started to seem normal, talking about how Crispin lived under a rock. He made a joke as well, which may give Crispin the idea that he was starting to get normal. But, I know in a lot om movies, books, show, that the good guy can instantly turn bad. I don't think Bear would do anything crazy to Crispin, but as we saw in the beginning Crispin said something that offended Bear, and Bear hurt Crispin. I think that if Crispin were to make one wrong move, he could instantly be killed by Bear without knowing. For that reason, I think Crispin should definitely try to escape when he gets the chance.

I feel like Crispin should not trust Bear. I think this because he just randomly stumbled across a man in a village that was all broken down and abandoned when it was affected by the plague. Another thing is that he tricked Crispin into pledging that he will be his servant until he dies, because of his extreme hunger for food. But if Bear seems to get nicer later on into the book, then Crispin could trust him.

Brandon Perfecto said...

I think that crispin should trust bear because its his only source of protection. bear enslaved crispin but if you think about that okay. crispin may not be able to see his father but he has food water and shelter

Emily Thomas said...

I think Crispin should not trust Bear because Bear is a lot bigger than Crispin, meaning if Crispin does one thing wrong, Bear could easily beat him up. Also, Bear could do anything to Crispin, now that he is his servant, such as lead him to a bad place or not treat him fairly. However, I feel that Crispin should not run away from Bear because if the small boy tries to run, Bear could easily catch him and possibly kill him for trying to run. Also, Crispin mentioned that he had sworn to something, and that he shouldn't run away, otherwise he will be sent to a bad place. This is why I think Crispin shouldn't trust Bear, but also should not run away.

Carmen Ramirez said...

I think Crispin shouldn't trust "Bear" because you never know what he can do to him ans he seems kinda rude from the chapters that we have read about him. I also think that Crispin should not escape from "Bear" because "Bear" made him make a promise that he would not leave and I think if he leaves "Bear" will kill him.

Joslyn Powers said...

I think Bear could be trusted but at the same time I don't. Bear seems like he could be nice, I mean he's teaching Crispin how to juggle and he seems that he could be kind at times. But he has also threatened Crispin and forced him to be his servant. I don't think Crispin should try and escape from Bear because Bear could help him get to different cities. Bear could help him get to different places because like Bear said he has traveled to many different places.

Nadia Trejo said...

In not sure if Crispin should escape from Bear, but since is going good right know. I think maybe Crispin and Bear will get along with each other, and be friends. So, I think Crispin doesn't have to escape.

Coraima Cruz said...

I think Crispin shouldn't trust bear because he was the one who told him about the guy who got hung on the tree and because Bear found him in a village that was already affected.I don't think Crispin should try and escape from bear because maybe bear isnt a bad person and they should get to know each other.

Valentina Guerrero said...

I think that Crispin should not trust Bear because the first time he told Crispin if he wanted bread but instead he grabbed him and made him his slave. I think that Crispin should definitely try to escape because I think he deserves to be free and not let anyone boss him around. I think of him doing that because I do not think that he deserves to have that kind of life because he also needs to find more information about his dad.

Ximena Quinonez said...

I think Crispin should not trust Bear because he does not know him well and he might be a bad guy. I think Crispin should try to escape because Bear might be a bad guy.

Mia Jacobo said...

I think that Crispin should not trust Bear. I think this because Bear was very dirty and was in a village that had the plague. He was also hurting Crispin and grabbing his wrist really tight when they first met. I am torn on deciding whether Crispin should run away or not.

Maria Aguilar said...

I think Bear can't be trusted. I think this because Bear told the narrator to be his servant and if he didn't listen then Bear would hurt him. Bear had also mentioned that he'll lead the narrator and the people that are trying to hunt him if he doesn't be Bears servant. So I think the narrator shouldn't trust bear.

Mariana Ramirez said...

I don't think Crispin should trust Bear because he said that once you get as old as him you won't trust people or feel for them. Also because he is from a village that was effected by the plague and he somehow was the only on alive there. I also think Crispin should not run away from bear because if he gets caught trying to escape he will not be receiving a small consequence.

Daniel Flores said...

I think Crispin should not trust the ¨Bear¨ because the bear is strong and i think if Crispin does something wrong the bear can hurt him or turn him in to the people who are looking for Crispin, because i think theirs a award whoever turns him in or catches him for them, and i think the ¨Bear¨ would turn him in.I think Crispin should only escape from the ¨Bear¨ if he tries to do something to him like take him to the place where there looking for him or tries to hurt him

Seth Daniel said...

According to the text if I were Crispin I would stay with the man because he is/would be a good guard to keep him safe. I also think that Crispin is very desperate for some decent food which Bear can also supply. Lastly i think that Crispin should stay with Bear because he made an oath to stay with him, plus if he did run away he would be even more of a wanted man and he could potentially be killed.

Trystan Hernandez said...

I believe he should trust Bear because Bear will most likely keep Crispin safe from being harmed. I also don't think Crispin should try to escape because Bear feeds him, gives him shelter, and won't turn in him to the steward. Also if does try to run away he most likely will be on the run not just from the steward but Bear as well.

Dylan Ito said...

I think Crispin should not trust "Bear" because he already trapped and tricked Crispin. He also seems dangerous and rude and that is not usually a good sign. But however much Crispin does not like "Bear" I don't think he should try to escape. "Bear" would punish him severely, we have already heard his cruel threats. Also even though it was involuntary he made a pledge that he would serve "Bear". Since he is very "God" based it could greatly halter his perception of himself. Meaning, he could go back to not wanting to live and that is not very healthy for a person to endure. That's why I think Crispin should not trust "Bear" and why he should try not to escape.

Mia Griffith said...

Yes I believe that Crispen should trust Bear because Bear sat down and talked with him told him his story and trusted him also what was Crispen to do because he can't run away because he swore on his life and if Bear was going to kill him he would have done it by now because as Bear knows Crispen is a wolfs head and anyone can kill him and not be in trouble. No I don't believe that Crispen should run away because that can just put him in more danger for the other people who are hunting for him fro hs original town.

I think Crsispin should not trust Bear beacuse I think it might be a trap. Also beacuse bear might attack him or hurt him. So That is what I think that Crsispin should not trust bear.

William Perez said...

I think crispin should leave bear because he gets mad easily and made crispin his servant so I think should leave him.

Daylan Mcfall said...

I don't think Crispin should trust Bear because Bear threatens him that he will bring Crispin back to the king if he didn't become his slave. When Crispin first met Bear, Bear was singing and playing his drums with his eyes closed where I think that would be Crispins chance to escape.

Brisa Stone said...

I do not think think Cripsin should trust Bear because even though Bear seems somewhat friendly if Crispin does something he doesn't like on accident Bear could hurt him or try to kill him. I think Crispin should try to escape from Bear because that way he could find towns and cities with his own liberties even if that meant have a straightway to hell.

Ceasar Olvera said...

I think Crispin should not trust Bear because he was in a town were the plague killed a lot of people and Bear was there and he was singing there in the church. But Bear will probably give Crispin more food.I think Bear should not run away from Bear because if Bear sees that Crispin has left he will tell Aclyfie that he saw Crispin and will try to get Crispin killed.

Bryce Howard said...

I think Crispin shouldn't trust him, we don't really know anything about him yet so before Crispin trusts him I think he needs to know him better but to be weary. I also think that Crispin should stick with Bear though, he could learn to be a juggler and travel with him for protection and he could use Bear as a way to find other towns and cities so that he can earn his liberty and make the towns people like him for his skills, plus Bear and the steward will be both looking for him if he tries to run away.

Joared Basulto said...

I think Crispin should not trust Bear because when Bear told Crispin if he wanted some bread. Crispin said yes and then when he leaned down to get the bread,Bear got him from his hand and made Crispin his slave. That is just an example of why I think Crispin should not trust Bear. I think Crispin should not escape from Bear because Crispin sweared to god he will not escape and back then and also now is really important to keep your promise and mostly when you sweared to god. Another reason why Crispin should not escape is because Bear looks like a dangerous guy and if Crispin escapes Bear will look for him and kill him or take him back to his village.

Nathan Marroquin said...

I think that Crispin should try to escape from the bear.I think this because he gives him food but he made him swear to be his slave and he is doing that because he wants him to do everything for him and he doesn't want him to leave so he made him swear to scare Crispin and he will not leave.I think Crispin should not trust bear because after he trusts him he will do more things he will say without saying anything else and I think bear with make him to more things and keep using him like a slave.

Sophie Nassiri said...

I think that crispin should have some what trust with bear because, bear seems to be telling the truth about everything that he has told crispin.Even if crispin does not want to completly trust him he has nothing to loose so he hasnt much of a choice.I think that cripin should not try and escape from bear at this point in time because since bear does so much taveling maybe crispin can find the place he was destined to go and then flee from bear.I think he also might have enough time with beaar to come to like him and bear can maybe a big help to him.

Luis Vasquez said...

I think Crispin should stay with Bear and trust him. I think this because maybe Crispin can't be killed by his old old master because he has a new one. Also, Bear can probably protect him.

Natalie Haro said...

I think Crispin should not trust bear because bear seems like a liar and he might tell someone else something that crispin might of told him and you cant really trust no one.I think Crispin should try to escape from Bear because Bear is mean and he is treating him like a servant basically also Crispin should go follow his journey.

Izzy Sims said...

I think that Crispin should not trust Bear because he scared him and made speak a long pledge so that Crispin wouldn't leave him! I think that Crispin would be safer on his own instead of being Bear's servant.

Alexis Ramirez said...

I think that Crispin should not trust bear because he has already been tricked by bear, and if he decides to trust him again bear might trick him again and the trick might be worse than the one before. I think that he should escape from bear because he might more probability to survive by him self than with someone who tricked him once .

Jet Tortolani said...

Yes I think he should trust bear. I think bear is so big if they ever get into trouble bear could protect Crispin. And you would think if he couldn't trust Bear than bear would have already turned him in for money but he hasn't yet.

I think that Crispin should stay with Bear because they are getting along and maybe bear will be able to protect crispin so that he wont get killed. I think that they are gaining trust in each other. And also bear is talking good care of him. And bear has been giving him protection. That is the reason why i think he should stay with bear.

Luis Martinez said...

I think he should trust bear because he is showing Crispin more things that he hasn't done before and helping him out by giving him food. I think he should not escape from bear because if he does then he will maybe get himself killed or the people who want to kill him they might catch him running wild.

I think Crispin should not trust Bear because he can change emotions at the flip of a coin. I don't think he should try to run away because Bear has a weapon and he is hungry and weak, and Bear says that after a while he is sure that he can find his home and return him for a price.

Cindy Cortes said...

I think Crispin shouldn't trust bear because bear might be giving him shelter and food but maybe he is just trying to get Chrispin's trust, so that he can turn him in after he's done using him and after getting all his information.

I can enfer that crispin should leave this guy named bear because I think bear is going to make crispin do something crazy that would stay with him for a long time unless he does something he doesn't want to.And he came to that village to get away from problems he has not get in another one.

Brodie Withrow said...

With Crispin bound to "Bear" I think there are things he could learn from bear like how to make money on the streets or maybe to juggle but i do not think Bear is to be trusted because Bear seems like he has a little of a crazy side and we can see it wahen hes man lik when he grapes crispen when he said what bear said sounded like treason. To me I think that he should run away so he can get his freedom but at the right time and when God gives Crispin a sign.

Juan Pablo Ochoa Sandoval said...

I think Crispin should learn to trust Bear but always be cautious of him because he changes into a new person in a matter of seconds. Later in the book we might find out things about Bear that tell us Crispin should completely trust him, or not trust him at all. Although Bear doesn't treat Crispin well he is teaching him some things, and giving him food so he should not run away. Another reason he shouldn't run away is because he made an oath to Bear, and if broken Bear told him he will kill him.

I think Crispin should start to trust bear but still not fully trust him because he hurt Crispin when he first met him and also can change his attitude really fast. But he should start to trust bear because he is now bears servant and is going to have to stay with him so he should learn to trust him.I don't think Crispin should try to escape from bear because he has gave him food, and is at least not alone now, and he has also made an oath with bear.

I think Crispin should trust Bear. I think this because I feel like Bear will end up helping Crispin find out who his father is and lead him to a city. Also I think Bear will give him food. Maybe Bear hasn't seen anyone in a while and is trying to have Crispin as company. This is why I think Crispin should trust Bear.

I believe that Crispin should trust Bear. Crispin should trust Bear because of his loyalty and pride in himself.Although he seems like an aggressor,as if is he trying to hurt him.But unfortunately he those are false claims.Bear's attitude is like that due to his impatience and hi arrogance. I don't think Crispin should try to escape from Bear.Due to the fact that Bear is arrogant yet so violent and dangerous and damage could be done.

While at first Bear seemed to have a threatening impression on Crispin, from what I have seen now, I would say that he is worth trusting. While he seems to be a harsh master, the last couple chapters have led me to believe that Bear is attempting to relieve Crispin of his limited "slave" mind-set. At the end of chapter 20 Bear requests that Crispin stop calling him sir, displeased by the fact that it is "servile". In saying this Bear is implying that he doesn't appreciate Crispin acting like a slave as he serves him. Rather, as is later implied four chapters later, Bear wants Crispin to be his student. For I believe it is in Chapters 21 or 22 (or both) that Bear tries teaching Crispin to be more light hearted- in the form of singing, or juggling. All in all I believe Crispin should not, in any case, leave Bear. As Crispin realized himself, there is a bit of kindness in the man, and as long as Crispin is with him, he is protected. My final reason is that Bear is a visionary. In his speaking he leaves hints as to the fact that he has ideas as to what should be changed in the world they live in, and if anything, I believe Avi created Bear to represent a modern person's point of view on the midieval times, for many of his values are similar to ours. If Crispin is to stay with Bear and learn from him about the world and his own values, (as well as free himself his dreary and negative slave-mindset), and learn how to be happy and strong in body and mind, then Crispin's entire world will be changed for the better.

I don't think that Crispin should be worried about Bear hurting him, so I think Bear can be trusted. I think bear could get Crispin out of a "trance", and show him happiness, life skills and how to survive out in the wild.

I think that Crispin should maybe trust bear a little even though he just met him does not mean that bear will not do anything. The bad thing is that i Crispin escapes bear will try to find him and maybe even kill him. Or maybe Bear know something about Crispin life.

I think Crispin should trust bear because he might protect him in any harm, even if at the beginning of the book Bear had an i aggressive personality, And because he started to be kind to Crispin,
