On page 100 Bear says, "Ah, Crispin, if I have learned one thing it's that he who knows a bit of everything, knows nothing. But he who knows a little bit well, knows much of all." What do you think Bear means by this statement?

Remember to write using proper grammar, answer all the questions and do a good job!

If this answer will be used as one of your required comments be sure to submit it in ECHO as well. Remember to copy and paste both the Question (in the title box) and your response (in the content box) into the Echo journal activity #1, #2 or #3.

If you are using this for extra credit look at the grading rubric before writing your response. Extra credit comments do not get submitted in ECHO.

I think bear means is that its not always best to know everything because knowing everything can sometimes end out to bad cause and if you know to much it can hurt you. This shows that Bear is teaching Crispin valuable life lessons that will help him stay alive and away from danger, because Crispin has a wolf´s head on him.

I tbhink that bear means you can know bit of all and know nothing.but if you know good or "well" you know all.Meaning that all you need to know is good.

I think bear is trying to say that even tho he knows very little he will still go far within the journey he is experiencing.

I think bear means that if you know a little about everthing you still dont know that much, because you dont know in depth of it there for you dont know that much. But if you at least know a lot about 1 or2 things you contain more knowledge. I think that bear is trying to tell crispin that he doesnt have to know everything if he at least has great knowlegde of the things he already knows.

What I think Bear means is that if you know a lot, you will end up forgetting some of the things you know. But if you know a little bit you will not forget the stuff you know. This shows that Bear was teaching Crispin skills for future experiences.

I think bear means by this statement that it's better to not alway know everything maybe knowing everything can lead to something bad or nothing . I think bear is teaching Crispin a lesson to have an idea to not alway know everything in life . But maybe he trying to alert him to not know everything can maybe eventually hurt him .

Luis Martinez said...

I think bear means that even if he didn't know a lot then it will be fine and it doesn't matter if he knew a lot of things he will still learn a lot of things throughout his journey.

I believe Bear means that sometimes it is just best to not know something. I feel that this could also mean that if Crispin were to know nothing about something, but a lot about another, then that's better than someone that knows very little about everything. I feel that it is just sometimes best not to know something. I feel like this because what if Crispin were too know something that upset him? He would probably be better off not knowing that thing at all.

When Bear had said that he went deeper down than the eye can see.He meant that if you know a little of everything it is equivalent to nothing because you are close minded about everything and only the skin of everything.

Jet Tortolani said...

I think I bear means you may know how to do something but not know you can. And that your probably a lot smarter than you would presume you are. Hes saying this because he wants Crispin to trust that he can do something when he doesn't know it yet.

I believe that Bear means that if you already know every thing you wont have time to get anymore experience in anything. And if you know everything you could end up lonely and bored because you already know how every thing works.

I think Bear means that its not always the best to know each and everything. I say this because if you know everything then sometimes it can end bad. It could hurt you if you know more than you should and isn't the best.

I think Bear means that if you know a bit of everything then you don't know the whole story . If you know at least one thing then you know the whole story.

I think Bear means that sometimes Crispin does not know much, but sometimes he does know. I also think that Bear is trying to say that when Crispin knows to much or too little it can be good or bad.

what i think bear is trying to say is the people who know how to read and wright don´t know about the real world and learn new thing and new experiences and people that don´t much have more time to learn to read and wright and have more time do other thing to.

I think bear means that sometimes its not the best to know everthing . I think this beacuse when someone knows a it can be bad because you might know more then you should.

Alexia Medina said...

I think bear means that Crispin thinks that bear doesn't know much about him but bear does know a lot about crispins past and is mother and father but crispin doesn;t know that bear knows that stuff.

Anaid Hernandez said...

I think bear said "Ah, Crispin, if I have learned one thing it's that he who knows a bit of everything, knows nothing. But he who knows a little bit well, knows much of all." because he probably meant that if you know certain things it can get you into danger. Also if you have done many things and know a lot you will already have experience and won't learn any new things.

Jessica Castro said...

I think what Bear means is that if you know little knowledge as of now you will have more time and ¨space¨ in your brain to learn from expericence as you get older. Then if you already know too much you won´t be able to gain as much knowledge and it will be forgotten easily and that it is better to take it slow and get knowledge little by litte from experience. But if Crispin thinks he knows what it means he will use that advice later on. I think that Bear is hard on him but then switches up and is caring for him. Maybe Bear went through something different or similar and he got hurt from it and he sees that Crispin is hurting too and he is passing on advice to Crispin.

Trystan Hernandez said...

I think what Bear is trying to say is if you don´t know what much your experience of doing that certain thing would be more enjoyable. But if know a lot you already know what to expect and it won´t be as enjoyable if you never experienced it before.

Emily Thomas said...

I think Bear means that life is an adventure, meaning if you know everything, you can't learn anything new and nothing surprises you in the real world. However, if you don't know that many things about the natural world, life is full of surprises and you can have a lot more fun in life and the things you do. Also, if you don't know that many things about the world, then learn something, you can share your knowledge with others, so these people can spread more knowledge themselves. This is what I think Bear means by his quote.

Noe Aguirre said...

I think Bear means sometimes its best not to know everything because sometimes it can lead to bad things and things you wish you never knew.I feel like he was referring to Crispin not knowing much about his mother and father because when Father Quinel told him things about his mother he was mad that she never told him and lost some trust.

Christian Hernandez said...

I think bear means that not always you know a lot of something. Also, it could mean that Crispin knows a lot and a little.

Mia Jacobo said...

I think that Bear means that people who know a lot can't learn more and they can't go on adventures. But people who know a little can go on adventures and learn new things.

Christopher Escalona Barragan said...

I think Bear means that you don't need to know a lot as long as you know a little, or it could be that he means if you know a lot there wont be room for more and exciting things, or that if you know a lot it wont be as enjoyable because you would either now or figure out what will happen but if you know a little it will be enjoyable because you wont be able to tell what's going to happen and to me not knowing a lot seems more fun then knowing a lot.

I think bear means that if you know everything you it could be bad or it could be good. I agree with bear because if you know everything then that could be bad. It could be bad because it might be a secret of someone's that they don't want other people to know.

I think what bear means is that the little you know about things the more you'll actually know.also that if you know to much you actually know little than what its real.

I think he is trying to say not knowing a lot can help you understand better because you break it down to know it easier, but if you think you know things but overthink it you might not know what your doing.

Abby Payne said...

I think Bear means sometimes if you know to much you can start to think you are the best at everything and not want to listen to what other people have to say. However if you only know a little bit you can go through life being able to be explore and learn new and exciting things. That is what I think bear means.

I think bear is trying to tell Crispin that it's not always good to know everything. Bear is also teaching Crispin his bear's knowledge so he can stay alive.

I think bear means that, the smart will know the important things in life. They wont brag about being smart.

Esteban Valencia said...

Bear seems to be a person that has seen and done a lot in life and he has shown a lot of knowledge up to this point in the book.

Jeffrey Fitz Gibbon said...

I think that in the context of what was happening in the text, Bear said that to put Crispin at ease because Crispin said: "Bear, I'm sorry I know so little". He also might have said it because when people practice one sole thing adequately, they get good at it. But, when people kind of dot around subjects, they're likely to get confused and not gain that deeper understanding/comprehension that you would get if you just took one thing at a time. I think that as we get to know Bear and his traits, we will get more insight into this.

Eleazar Ramirez said...

I think bear is saying the a person who knows bit of everything just thinks that he knows every thing. Then he said that know a little bit know much all I think that bear is saying that a person who know little know more.

Leslie Tellez said...

I think bear means if you know to much you can get hurt by that, by this I mean if you a little but to much you can get yourself into something bad so it's better not to know a lot.

Jeremiah Macedo said...

I think Bear maybe knows a little stuff about Crispin but does not want to tell him because maybe Crispin is going to get mad. Say why didn't you get early or something do not know yet

Dylan Ito said...

I think Bear means that it is more valuable to know a lot of one thing. I think he thinks this because as you know, all things are related in some way, that knowing a lot of something can help you reason out a lot of other things. Also knowing a little of everything is not always good for you because in every world there are bad things that happen. I don't agree with Bear's statement but I think his quote was well said.

Tylen Carrasco said...

I think Bear is referring that if you know one thing you know it very well because that's what your brain knows best. But if you know a little bit of everything it's hard to remember what they are or how to do it. That's why sometimes it's better to not know everything but to know very little things.

Avery Roche said...

I think Bear means that when you know everything you are never going to know how to learn anything so, people who know everything actually know nothing. But if you know a little bit you will be able to learn instead of knowing the answer to a problem every time.

Gianni Izzi said...

I think that bear means that you don't have to know everything to be smart, you could just know a little. If you spend your whole life trying to know everything, you won't really do or be anything. "Life is a ride, make the most of it."

Ethan Mathew said...

In saying this statement, I beleive Bear is saying that it is not good to be a Jack of All Trades. If know how to do everything, but preform all of them with little skill, then you are useless. However, if you were to know how to do one thing, but you knew how to do that thing EXCEEDINGLY well, then, your skill is valuable, and it is worth something.

Bear is trying to convey that knowing a small amount of things well can get you through life, and it can lead to you (in your own way) to knowing everything you need to know. Knowing a bit of everything would be spreading yourself to thin, with no support, and leaves you with a high risk to crash and burn when you try doing anything.

Luis Soriano said...

I think bear statement means that no one knows everything and that as you live life you learn a thing about how life works and you learn from your mistakes and how to change that when something similar happens.

Andrez Hernandez said...

I think that bear is trying to say that if you know little bit of everything then you don't know the whole story so you don't know a lot but if you know all o one story you are a master at that story and know it all.

Martin Gonzalez said...

I think what Bear is trying to say is it is not the best to know everything and some times its better to know little. IT could also possible that if you know to much it could lead to great danger. This could mean that Bear possible teach him a life lesson because he likes Crispin.

Joared Basulto said...

What i think that Bear means with that statement is that you can't know it all but in time you will learn more. Also that how knows a lot of everything knows nothing because you cant know it all and if u think that you do,you will learn new things a long the way.

Rebecca Trejo said...

I think when bear says this, it means that you do not need to know everything to get by in the world, and by knowing everything you forget to question, which makes you stupid.

Syerra Schneider said...

I think bear means that if you know a little bit of everything then you are useless because you only know a little of something and if someone asked you question then you couldn't answer because you only know a little about that one topic. When he knows just a little means you know a lot because you never said how much of each topic you know of.

Nathan Marroquin said...

I think that bear means that if you know a little about everything then you don't know the whole story and if you know a lot about a little then you know most of the picture for the things that you do know.I think if know a little about a lot then you really don't know anything because you don't know the everything about it you just know parts of everything. If you know a lot of stuff about only a few topics then you will know everything you need to know about the topic.I think that bear wants Crispin to learn a lot about the things he is teaching him and he doesn't him to learn a lot more topics and learn more about the real world because he will know nothing.

Paulina Cervantes said...

I think bear means that its not always good to know everything . I think this because trying to know everything can lead up to bad things .

Brodie Withrow said...

I think by what Bear said he means that a person with knowledge is blind in some situations and those with little knowledge can see a better picture. What I mean is If you are smart and know much of all you wont be able to see or truly feel the situation. Yet someone with little knowledge can see a problem as something bigger and can feel situations better meaning they can connect to the world easier.

Daniel Flores said...

I think bear means that people that know everything forget most of it when they are older. Another thing I think he means is that people that know little remember things when they get older and don't forget the facts. The last thing I think he means that people aren't able to understand a lot of things at a young age instead they should learn more things slowly.
